Run a marathon. Get organized. Become more involved in the community. Lose weight. As the new year approaches, resolutions abound. A new year gives the feeling of a fresh start, so it's a good time to resolve to do or not do something. When it comes to our spiritual growth, many Christians start each new year with the perfect Bible reading plan and a new prayer journal.
New Year's resolutions are not bad. However, statistics show that we do not keep our resolutions long term.
As we enter a new year, we want to encourage you in your spiritual growth. The journey to spiritual growth has a starting point. This Sunday at First Baptist Church of Carmi, we will begin a new sermon series titled "Colossians: Strong in the Faith". We will see that spiritual growth does not begin with a new Bible reading plan or by downloading a prayer app on your phone. Spiritual growth does not begin with your ideas, your plans, or your new methods. Your spiritual growth starts somewhere else.
